Public Stargazing at Dalby Forest

27th Feb 2026 20:00 - 21:30

Scarborough & Ryedale Astronomical Society host regular public stargazing sessions at the John Harper Observatories in Dalby Forest during the autumn and winter months. Discover stars, planets, nebulae and galaxies beneath some of the darkest skies in the country, within the North York Moors Dark Sky Reserve.

Please dress warmly and bring a torch, ideally with a red filter. Avoid using white light near the observatories and take care in the car park.

If skies are cloudy, a talk will be held outdoors in the Visitor Centre courtyard. If rain, snow or ice is forecast, the event will be cancelled and ticketholders notified.

The event is free. A reduced Forestry England exit charge applies, with a QR code provided on the night.

One ticket is required per person, maximum six per order. No dogs allowed.

Donations are welcome, with a suggested contribution of £2 per adult and £1 per child.
