This ancient Dutch ritual invites people to sit together at twilight before turning on any lights, quietly watching the day fade into night and gently marking the shift from work to rest. As part of this year’s Dark Skies Festival, Marjolijn van Heemstra will introduce this soothing practice to the UK with a gorgeous sound piece blending music and storytelling.
Spend the evening in The Orchid House and watch the beautiful landscape at Helmsley Walled Garden soften and blend as the world drifts into darkness. Bring a blanket and a friend to experience the wonder of something ordinary and natural, yet often overlooked.
